Every body is blaming everybody. Fingers pointing everywhere, angers flaring, hearts wailing, the national tragedy had done much damage to the otherwise our peaceful little country.
Please stop the blame game. Nobody’s to blame. No, we can’t afford this at this critical hour. Let’s join hands and think with our heads. Though bitter as it may be, failures are what you count as experiences. We at least know now, how certain things don’t work in the hour of the need. We know now, we can’t overlook our own safety. We know now, we need to be prepared.
30 people ran up and down the banks of the river that night. 30 people risked their lives and wished they had wings. These people are the heroes. The battle is lost, I grief that, but our heroes remain. Let’s thank them and hear what they have to say. Let’s register in our minds, what they did, and how things did not work out. Let’s hear their anguish. Let’s look at the trauma they went through seeing those little faces fade away that night.
Let’s be assured they did all they could in trying to save those little lives. But they were not professionals. They panicked and did not know what to do. Trust me, any of us would have panicked or gotten more people killed, I would have too. Because, we were not prepared for this. There was no warning. There was no calling. It just happened and they jumped into action like we all would. But, not being trained, they lost, and any of us would have too.
We can’t solve problems with too many ‘if onlys’ . But let’s pen them down for future references. Let’s make a list of all things that we think could have been done to save those precious lives. Let’s stock them. Have them ready. Let’s get organized. Let’s start learning. There are international organizations we can look to for expertise. There are private organizations too, that help people in distress. Let’s get trained. Let’s not submit to fate just yet.
May the seven precious souls rest in peace.

Lobzang,
Your words must have brought peace in the country after it was featured on Tshering Tobgay's blog. You really held the base of it all.
I am amazed by your swimming pool idea. It was what i thought our school(www.bajothanghss.edu.bt) should have (it's in wangdue, very hot place) but we couldn't do it last year. But then i didn't view the concept from your point of view. Thus we lost a boy last Saturday to the river. Now I am more determined to have one and i have your words to back me up. thanks man. I will update about it in my blog later as i do.
